#701 Cat's Claw Bark

Acquired 2015

This delicate very tiny nativity is mounted on a dried leaf of a Cat's Claw plant. The plant is named after its hook-like horns and is a woody vine native to the Amazon rainforest and other places in South and Central America. The bark and root have been used for centuries by South Americans to treat health problems and was also used as a form of birth control! For my nativity collection the plant is used to form a delicate small, sweet nativity including a miniscule Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. I purchased it while I visited Hendley Market in Galveston, TX. October 2015. Purchase price, $14.
