#73 Sewing Mice by Enesco

Acquired 1993

With my association with the Brass Latch in Eureka Springs, Ark., in 1990, I received brochures from them showing me which different nativity sets they had that I might like to add to my collection. One was this darling mice sewing set which I drooled over until Fall, 1992. I called their store to order it and they had just sold their set and had another one on order. After checking a couple of times and finding it not available, I gave up trying. Of course, then after Christmas, 1992, I found the Sewing Box, Set No. 71, which is a variation of this set.Apparently sometime in early 1993, The Brass Latch did call to tell me the set was available, but Bob took the call and decided not to tell me and to order it as a surprise for my 50th birthday in March 1993. He had the set delivered to Carolyn Runnels so I wouldn't happen to receive the delivery! What he did forget, is that I saw that a check was written to Carolyn with no explanation to me! I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why he would write her a check for $90.00 - until, of course, my birthday! This is a very delicate set and must be carefully assembled and arrived with two small breaks which Bob was able to glue for me. The lace stable is held up by the knitting needles and the embroidery hoop. The set includes 12 mice all depicting the nativity with each piece adding to the sewing motif. Very unique!
