#679 Bridges of Hope

Acquired 2014

My dear friend, Sue Earl, from my Bible Study Fellowship Buddies group, has been on mission trips to Franschooek, South Africa. She and her husband, Jack, returned from the field because of Jack's health. While there, they worked with Bridges of Hope who operate a school of about 50 students who were orphaned mainly because of the AIDS epidemic in South Africa. While back in the States, Sue has always maintained contact with this mission group. Bridges of Hope also teach natives how to make crafts to be marketed. Sue was sent a beaded, colorful, stunning nativity made by the natives from the group. She posted it on Facebook, and I saw it! I asked her if it is possible to purchase one! She said she had several ask and was working with Bridges of Hope to secure six sets! It took many months of waiting, but the sets finally arrived in April 2014. In that we were out of the country until June, I had to wait to see mine! This amazingly gorgeous, beaded set includes eight pieces: an angel, Mary (holding Baby Jesus), Joseph, and the three kings. The two animals, native to South Africa, include a zebra and a giraffe! Purchase price, $150.
