#739 Small Israel Nativity and Nativity Stamp

Acquired 2015

Aunt Kathi, as we call her, my sister-in-law from Paso Robles, honored me with a Christmas gift for 2015 - two small nativities to add to my collection. The piece from Israel is made from olivewood. Recently I learned that no olive trees are cut in Israel for the purpose of gleaning wood. Only broken branches and trees that are cut because of wood damage are used to make olivewood items. I found that to be quite interesting. Kathi's piece looks like a small log carved out for the Holy Family to dwell during the birth of Baby Jesus. The second item is a large nativity stamp - perfect for the back of envelopes!
