#189 Broom Stick Wood – Acapulco

Acquired 1998

Our cruise to the Panama Canal in April 1998, one of our stops was in Acapulco, Mexico. We visited Capilla de la Paz, The Place of the Cross, a beautiful place of prayer distinguished by the gigantic white cross on top of the hill which can be seen for miles around Acapulco. The memorial was built by the father in memory of his three children and wife that he lost. In their lovely gift ship, with a very few minutes to spare (the bus was waiting for us!) we found this beautiful handmade broom stick wood nativity of eight pieces. The pieces are 8” tall, so getting it home was quite a challenge - but where there is a will, there is a way! Cost was $80!
