#596 Blue Tone Nativity Plaque
Acquired 2011Another beautiful additional gift from my office helpers, Evelyn, Cynthia, and Rose, was this beautiful plaque that can either stand on the table or be hung on the wall. The Holy Family and shepherds gaze in amazement at the precious child that has come, and it depicts the reality of the Christmas story. We do not celebrate a fable, but we celebrate an incredible reality in our history - the miraculous birth of the Savior. In this plaque the shepherds have brought young children along with them to see the Holy Child! Lambs circle around Mary and Joseph. The Holy Family is portrayed in a cave which is very realistic of the cave that we saw in Bethlehem - typical of a “stable” where animals were kept. Luke 2:7 is included “…and she brought forth her firstborn, a son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” This picture is so realistic it almost looks like it is a photograph instead of a painting. Created in America, this photograph is by P. Graham Dunn, and the piece is from Dalton, OH.
