#577 Christmas Bethlehem

Acquired 2011

Bob's stepsister, Kathy Saaty, visited our 50th Anniversary Party Celebration, October 2011, and brought this special unique nativity to me. She knows it is hard to “buy” one because of being unsure if I might already have it. But this one is very different. She visited a garage sale of a friend and asked if she had any nativity sets for sale! The friend said, “No”. Kathy responded, “Oh, I was just wondering because my sister-in-law has a collection of over 500.” “In that case”, her friend replied, “I do have one I could offer you”. Then she brought out this lovely “tray” style nativity of all one piece in its original box. The stable and Holy Family are in the back of the large circular shaped “tray” and the kings march around the courtyard (by electric plug, not battery). As they pass Baby Jesus, they turn and bow! The piece plays Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem and other carols by the turn of a switch. The shepherds, drummer boy, a woman at a well, and the animals all are part of the courtyard. Kathy's friend sold it to her for $5.00! Its manufacture date is 1997 and can be found on the internet from $100 and up!
