#897 Colombia Widows Nativity

Acquired 2022

This lovely, colorful hand-painted work of art ceramic piece is created by widow women from Colombia, South America. These special women have lost their husbands due to the current violence in their country and choose to use their talents to create stunning art pieces, including this nativity, to provide their income. This triangular structured piece includes the angel, three kings, a shepherd, and the Holy Family all nestled horizontally around Baby Jesus. The piece was marketed through Mission Basilica, San Diego de Alcald, in San Diego, CA. This was the first established mission in California by Father Junipere Serra on July 16, 1769. Evey and her husband, Rick, were celebrating their 41st anniversary and visited this Mission, saw this elegant piece, and gifted it to me in October 2022. Thank you, Evey and Rick.
